I am a retired library and information science professional, international speaker, teacher, writer, and consultant. Author of the 2014 book Exploring Digital Libraries, I have directed strategic initiatives at Cornell, OCLC, and the University of Pittsburgh. My 2006 Library of Congress-commissioned report on the role of the library catalog in a era of disruptive, web-driven change continues to be an object of active professional debate and discussion.

I earned a bachelor's degree from Bucknell University, an M.S. in library and information science from Drexel University, and an M.B.A. from Franklin University. I have been a librarian since 1983. My career focused on academic research libraries and global library cooperatives.
